winter is coming

i am so excited for winter. or just for colder weather in general. even though people say that youre supposed to dislike the season you were born in, i (a late december baby) love winter.

i am not a big summer person, its always too hot, living right next to a lake makes it horribly humid and i end up going through too much laundry due to sweating puddles after a five minute walk. i specifically dont wear white shirts during the summer because my old ones have pit stains. spring is cute, its a nice season, definitely my second favorite season, things are peaceful, its the season of new beginnings. like lauryn hill says in everything is everything: "after winter must come spring". spring is like prime sweater weather, both thicker and lighter. fall has to be my third favorite season, this doesnt mean i dont like it, but in the past few years it lies in this in between place where its too hot to wear a thicker, nicer coat, and too cold to leave the house in just a zip-up sweater. fall preludes winter so i cant hate on it too much.

winter is mostly a good time for me. i love bundling up in a bunch of layers and going outside for walks. i still walk around the same route, the sight isnt as pretty in the winter, but the view of near frozen river is very calming. seeing my breathe crystalize infront of me, my glasses subsequently fogging up, waiting for my glasses to unfog. i am so ready for winter.

speaking about winter wear. i like to be completely bundled. regardless of how cold or warm it is outside, i stick to three top layers and one bottom layer. i like to keep my core organs warm, especially my heart and lungs. i dont really care for my legs being cold, i actually enjoy the feeling. alot of the heat i dissipate is through my legs, it serve to prevent me from overheating. my fingers and toes get very cold, ive had poor circulation since i was a kid, i've tried heat pads, iron supplements, magnesium, nothing helps. i dont really mind it, however if its too cold, my fingers become to stiff to move, thankfully swipe to type exists on my phone.

winter fashion is another bag of its own though. its one thing to be completely bundled, but its another thing to look good while doing it. i know its cold and nobody really cares, but i care. i love seeing fashionable people, nothing too extreme, just very curated is the way id put it into words what i like. i love seeing long trench coats, thicker and darker jeans, broken in workwear, horribly fat and long scarves, and most of all cute boots and shoes. this is what i look for personally when shopping for new winterwear. i like to buy a nice thing once in a while, especially something thats winter specific.

i took the dive on low top docs today! i really wanted them ever since i started university. they are just so cool, and i loved the aesthetic. i put off buying the for a long time because i didnt really have the wardrobe for it, i had a lot of straight cut or fitted wear that didnt really support the framing that are unique to docs. but now i do! i really look forward to wearing them this fall and winter, they are really cute with these darker jeans i have. i get framed really well when wearing the jean/low doc combo. of course with the price tag, theres a certain standard of care and longevity im expecting. i want these shoes to last because i love the look so much. i don't think ive ever been this happy about a piece of apparel. heres how it looks (attached below!). i threw on my favorite trenchcoat and its such a cute outfit. im gonna spam it constantly this winter :3

anyways, i cant wait for winter. im counting the days till the first snowfall.
