peach toned leaves

nice peaceful hallowween weekend. there are so many leaves on the ground it has made my walks so nice to go along. fall brings with it a distinctive smell too, the smell of rotting leaves most likely, but its a smell ive grown accustomed to. fall, much like spring, represents a transition period in our lives, similar to how most other mammals enter hibernation, we bunker down in our homes from night to day. i always wondered why humans didnt hibernate, i feel like it would be a fairly efficient thing to do. it was suprisingly warm today, and it was also warm yesterday, i could not go on my walk without taking off my sweater.

i went to the lauryn hill concert last night in toronto. i wouldnt characterize myself as a big concert person (as opposed to my parents, who in their 50s, still make it mandatory for themselves to go to a heavy mental concert once a month), but i enjoy seeing artists i really really like. my first concert was actually a mitski concert back in my first year of uni. a very awkward developmental period for me to go listen to her but ill be honest when i say it was really nice. concerts are one of those things where nobody really judges you for the way you act, dress, or sing. everyone is simply there to just listen to the music and have fun. we often tend to hyperfocus on ourselves and single ourselves out in social situations, believing that every in the room with us exists to solely judge us. i dont know about you all, but i feel like concerts are of those spaces where i can relax and just mess around. things in life are never that serious to get in the way of a good time.

anyways. onto ms lauryn hill, it was a solid performance, i liked it overall. scotiabank arena isnt my favorite stage, and at times its really hard for artists to properly fill the stage and the space. but i think she did a good job, not the mention the crowd was a bit older, so the crowd wasent nervous (as for example, the twice concert was at times). genuinely just good vibes from everyone. the remixes were remixes, not much else to say, they dont live up to the originals, but it was nice to hear my friends and is favorite verses. we had killing me softly with his song, exfactor, zion (my favorite), in general just everything off of miseducation, plus some of the score. all i all, we both liked it alot. i ended up getting home at 2, passing out, and waking up to my cats clawing my legs at 5 am. needless to say i am running on exhaust fumes, but it was worth it to see ms hill live.

anyways, there were two concerts i wanted to go to tonight. it was sort of a right now thing that i truly decided to go, a bit spontaneous, i know, but it has me really excited. i was torn between going seeing laufey or faye webster live

seeing laufey live was my top choice to be honest, but the tickets were 400 dollars, and no, im not paying that. if you dont know who laufey is, she does the same theme of mitski music, but her songs are more orchestral and vivid, i like the compositions she has recorded from her live shows. anyways shes good but not 400 dollars good. its an experience im willing to miss.

i decided to go to see faye webster. i am not a crazy big fan, and i certainly dont know more than a few songs, but the tickets were only 54 dollars off stubhub and i get her on my spotify playlists to recognize a few of her hits. im a bit excited. ive been doing alot of solo things this year (solo trips, going places, seeing things) but ive never done a concert before. i told my mom to make the decision for me and she said yes, so im going. thats how i decided. maybe this is the first step to something new, and i hope to keep making these same steps in the future.
